Geert De Prest, a Belgian national, has been with Stewart and Stewart since 1985, and, in 1993, became the firm's first non-national partner. Mr. De Prest has extensive trade litigation experience, in particular before the Department of Commerce and the Court of International Trade, and speaks or reads several languages, including Dutch and French. His professional experience includes work for the U.S. bearing industry, the flower industry, the textile industry, the steel industry and the chemical industry.

Mr. De Prest received his legal education at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) and the George Washington University in Washington D.C., and is a member of the DC Bar. In addition to his legal credentials, Mr. De Prest holds a Master of Arts in International Studies from the Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies, in Washington, D.C. and Bologna, Italy. He was co-chairman at the subcommittee for international trade at the International Trade Section of the DC Bar, and a co-author in several of the firm's recent publications on international trade matters. He is married, has two children, and is a resident of Washington D.C. since 1979.
